Problems:
She used to be a winning barrel racer. She suffered through a fire that burned down her barn and the attatched house where
 her owner and rider lived, killing him and all the other horses, even her foal she had only just given birth to a few days ago.
 she is now troubled, and won't let anyone near her. there are burns all across her face, back, barrel, withers and hindquarters
 that caused scars, near complete blindness,  and white coloured fur patches. she has a tendancy to spook at nothing, slamming
into the bars of the covered corral she's kept in. she hates to be touched, startling away from the contact. She cannot stand being locked in small, dark, enclosed places such as a stall or trailor. she had to be hand walked back to the ranch, and only allowed that because the vet shot her with some tranquilizer so that he could put burn cream on her wounds.

Tips for gentling her: Bring her food, such as hot mash and with raisons thrown in the mix. if she lets you approach, do not stroke
her. Just let her get accustomed to you, and speak soothingly. Sing to her. She seems to like that.

Reason for use in the programme:
She was found in a field of knee high grass, starving to death. Her ribs showed, and her muzzle was cracked and oozing puss through
 the mass of blisters caking it, along with 50% of the rest of her hide. she was a sorry sight to see, with her swollen udder and no foal in sight. She shied away from those trying to catch her, and gave an eerie, chilling cry, calling for the foal that no longer lived. she was caught, and brought to the ranch. In hopes of fattening her, she was placed in the ten acre pasture. After Phantom escaped ,she was put in a covered arena, as she began showing sighns that she wasn't coping well with all the space.

What needs to be worked through before she can be ridden:
 Her mistrust of humans must be quelled, at least for her gentler. then she must  be willing to trust her handler, moving as they
please over the ground as they lead her. She must learn that her handler knows best what she needs. Only then will she be allowed
 to be ridden.

Personality
Willow is a very anti-social mare, except when she goes into heat. Then, she is the most friendly mare at the ranch, nickering and
 neighing to every other horse.

Heat Status:
 Pregnant, although she's so early along that nobody knows yet.

Age:
this mare is 9 years old, 1 of which has been spent at the ranch, alone in a covered arena, as trainee after trainee failed to tame her, and thus were kicked from the programme.

Abilities:
 she is very agile on her hooves, moving swiftly over the ground when she knows the area.

Major fears:
She fears fire above all, but also unknown human touch, which she percieves to be an attack from a predator.

Strengths: Once she has been gentled, she would make an excellent therapy horse, or possibly once again a great barrel racer. she would have to trust her rider completely, but she could also be a poles horse, with a bit of re-training.

How trusting is she?
